this is a question that troubles me too. We have the ingredients and the knowledge, so why can't we go anywhere and have a really great steak or fantastic pasta? And I love melon too - but ONLY with prosciutto
We do get decent ingredients, and perhaps Silvana will know far more than I do about this, but the quality of the food over there was stunning.
The pasta was all really fresh, the meat tender and perfectly cooked, and the vegetables really fresh.
Over here, we tend to overdo meals, and do too much, I like the fact that in Italy, if you order a steak, you get a plate with just a steak on it, nothing too fancy.
